Works and the constructions of Bérenger Saunière
|
The Béthanie villa
It is in this villa that Bérenger Saunière liked to receive his guests of marks. Doesn't one say that a very beautiful woman came there to sing? For some, it doesn't make any doubt that it was about Emma Calvé, celebrate cantattrice of the time of Saunière, alas, this beautiful legend was not ever proven and seem very unlikely. What is certain, it is that the vicar of Rennes-Le-Château led the big life there, but he never lived it! Discover this construction. |

The Tower magdala
If we had to choose a symbol for the history of Rennes-Le-Château, it is certain that the set of the keen of the Rennes-Le-Château history would choose the Tower Magdala. Built on a symbolic concept its survey is one of the most passionate of the constructions of Bérenger Saunière. Overhanging the sides of the tray its échauguette and its windows seems to want to take us toward a secret place.. |

The Tower of the orange grove
This Tower of glass, symbolizing the transparency and the invisible is the opposite of the Tower Magadala made of stones and mortar. Placed to the contrary of the Tower Magdala, it acted as greenhouse for tropical plants. Its discretion failed to lose it, until the restoration of 2003. A lot of elements of this construction won't fail to surprise you.. |

The private Chapel
Bérenger Saunière made itself build an adjoining private chapel in the Villa Béthanie. it allowed him to continue to say the Mass after the fateful exit ofits suit that condemned it to the interdiction to practice the gestures consecrated of the Catholic cult. The villagers came to listen to tell it the Mass in this chapel abandoning the church of the village that the vicar replacing Bérenger Saunière found emptiness. It is there, also, that in 1963, the document "Silly-fisher" would have been discovered.. |

The church of the village
Among the most surprising elements in the works of Bérenger Saunière, it is incontestable that those achieved in the Saint-Marie-Madeleine church are those that put the more of questions. It is difficult to refute the presence of symbolic elements within this church. This is not in this place that September 29 1891 Bérenger Saunière put up to date a tomb that seemed to upset his life? The survey and the analysis of the elements of this church won't fail to surprise you.. |

The gardens of the church
Bérenger Saunière will begin the works of the gardens close to six years before the works of restoration of the church of the village. He will draw them himself. There also we are before an obvious symbolism. An author, Alain Féral, was the first to disassemble that these gardens take the shapes and the implantation of the church of the village precisely. The gardens would be only a representation of the church, but with elements more that astonishing.

The bélvedère
The belvédère is this terrace that joins the two towers, the Tower Magdala and the Tower of the orange grove. Its function first was to be a cistern, thereafter it was transformed in room of restaurant, then in room of museum. On this day this spaces is let neglected server of storage place. However, Saunière integrated it in his symbolic plan of the gardens
