Works and the constructions of Bérenger Saunière
|
The villagers had not admitted their vicar's condemnation. The reaction was radical. The bishopric of Carcassonne named a new vicar going against to Rennes-Le-Chateau. The villagers not approving this nomination, preferred to go to listen to the Mass that Bérenger Saunière said in its private chapel..
Provided with an altar, it allowed the priest to celebrate the cult all as within the church. This chapel is installed in a verandah. In the time of Saunière, the partitions of this verandah were achieved with glasses of color, recalling the stained glass windows of the churches.

This verandah has been left neglected a long time. The plates of broken glasses gave a nests of abandonment to the whole. The altar began to cover itself of moss and took, in part, of the greenish hues. This picture of ruin made very mediocre face within the domain. |

With regard to the actual glass roof, the opinions are shared. The bottom of the chapel is decorated of plates of glass painted in a modern enough manner that, to the early access, don't seem to have much to see with the decorations of Saunière |
The roof that before was achieved with plates of united color (blue, green, red) now represents a starry sky. |

However that may be and all as the Tower of the orange grove, the chapel deprived of Saunière had a real need of restoration or was condemned to disappear! This restoration has at least the merit to return this perennial construction.. |
