Works and the constructions of Bérenger Saunière
| The belvédère of the domain |

This belvédère in bow of circle joins the two anointed opposite of the set of the gardens of the Béthanie villa. Of a quoted one finds the Magdala tower there, of the other her greenhouse where Bérenger Saunière collected gases particularly rare of plants for this time. It is important to note that this belvédère didn't have the unique function to finish the works of Bérenger Saunière cleanly; its function was essential since its primitive goal was to be a cistern permitting the food in water of the superb gardens of the Béthanie villa. Some wanted to see a cache there having permitted to abbot Saunière to conceal his "treasure". |
| After the death of Marie Denarnaud, the only heiress of Bérenger Saunière, the family Corbu inherited, to his/her/its tour, of her goods. In order to attract the tourists, Noël Corbu, the new owner, decided to create a restaurant inside this cistern. In order to make she more pleasant, he made some openings open in the partition, allowing the customers of the restaurant thus to take advantage of the landscape while remaining to the cool during the hot days of the summer.

The belvédère also served to many former owners of the discreet place domain to start some excavations. It is what the photograph of right shows us
To reach the bélvedere, that is the point of obligated passage to go toward the Tower Magdala or the Tower of the orange grove, it is nécéssaire to cross the garden of the domain. Does the choice present itself then, to the visitor, does it go on the right, does it go on the left ?

Whatever is the path that he will decide to take he should go up eleven steps and should descend eleven other of it to come back in the garden. He will have taken 22 times the feet on walks! Decidedly, Saunière insita indeed on the symbolic number 22.
